2022 Everything Equine Expo Colt Starting Challenge
Amelia was selected as one of 6 competitors to compete in the colt starting challenge at the Everything Equine Expo in Lumberton, NC - held in February of 2022.
The competition consisted of starting a 3 year old filly under saddle that was not halter broke. With only 5 training hours, over the course of 3 days, competitors had to be able to mount/dismount, pick up all 4 feet, walk/trot/canter, stop/back up, & ride through an obstacle course in the finale round on the 3rd day of the competition. The obstacles were to cross over a tarp, over a series of ground poles, cross a bridge, drag a log, & weave through pole bending poles. The filly Amelia started in the competition did all the required obstacles & maneuvers.
