2021 All Womens Colt Starting Competition at the Everything Equine Expo
Amelia was selected as one of 6 women to compete in the all women's challenge at the Everything Equine Expo in Lake Waccamaw, NC - held in April of 2021. The Horse Education Company sponsored Amelia for this event!
The competition consisted of starting a 3 year old filly under saddle that was barely halter broke, with only 5 training hours, over the course of 3 days. Competitors had to be able to mount/dismount, pick up all 4 feet, walk/trot/canter, stop/back up, & ride through an obstacle course in the finale round on the 3rd day of the competition. The obstacles were to cross over a tarp, over a series of ground poles, cross a bridge, drag a log, turn a left and right hand circle inside a box, and pick up a tarp off the fence and set it across the saddle then put it back on the fence. The filly Amelia started in the competition did all the required obstacles & maneuvers. Amelia ended up winning the colt starting!
